Have you had frequent and unpredictable WOT/WOWP client crashes? If you have a sound card and nVidia card (maybe ATI too) then follow the instructions below to see if it solves your problem:
Go to Control Panel and then Device Manager and locate the Display Adapter and look if you have an entry for 'High Definition Audio Controller'
Spoiler

Select your video card and Right Click for PROPERTIES. Look for the 'Location' entry and note the BUS and FUNCTION entries:
Spoiler

Do the same for the 'High Definition Audio Controller'
Spoiler

IF the BUS used is identical (between the video card and the HD Audio Controller) BUT the FUNCTION is different (PCI BUS 4, Function 0 and PCI BUS 4 Function 1):
Spoiler

'DISABLE' the 'High Definition Audio Controller'
Spoiler

Your WOT/WOWP client would be much more stable. It might still crash but not as often. The problem stems from two Devices sharing the same bus (IRQ in fact) hence they interrupt each other. The reason is most video cards today do have their own audio device built-in for HDMI output.
PS You might need to redo this everytime you update your video card driver.
UPDATE: For newer video cards specially nVidia the location of the HD Audio Controller has changed.
It is no longer under the 'Sound,Video and Game Controllers section' (although sometimes it is still listed there, you cannot disable it there anymore).
Spoiler

You must now go to the System Devices section to DISABLE it.
Spoiler

UPDATE II: I would also check the python log. If your python log contains a lot of missing file error, inability to read .pyc files and countless CTD (Crash to Desktop) during the game as well and have PATCH Launcher errors like "Critical Errors' , then you might have a Hard Drive problem. You might not notice this with other programs but with WOT/WOWP you will. Sadly the solution for this is a brand new hard drive. This I know from experience as well.
Please comment here and give tips and observation if this helped you.
Edit: This has also been tested by people with ATI video card and the same fix works. You just might have a different designation for your 'HD audio controller'.
You can also try to DISABLE, "Data Execution Prevention':

If you are getting crashes at the start of the game or stuck with the splash screen you might have a memory leak or handling issue, This is specially true for 32bit systems. Things you can try are these:
1) Use Large Address Aware solution: http://www.techpower...ad.php?t=112556
2) Try to use GameBooster: http://www.iobit.com/gamebooster.php
3) Turn on Vertical Sync (Vsync): To limit the amount of frames that the game draws hence less resources used. It will however limit your fps (frames per second).
You can also check if your CTD (crash to desktop) crashes are due to case ventilation issue. If you are using a desktop computer, remove the side panel and use a desktop or table top fan to ventilate it. If your system is much more stable or the game runs longer, then you know you have a video card overheating issue. You either use a video card monitoring system with fan profile to see if it improves your GPU (graphics processing unit) temps or improve the case ventilation by adding more fans. Or you can just play with the side open with a table top/desk fan cooling it.
nVidia SLI or ATI CrossFire configurations are not currently supported since the game engine is not multi-threaded so if your game is 'blinking' or showing black frames in and out you need to turn off SLI/CrossFire.
You can also try to turn off 'threaded optimization' and change it from Auto to OFF and see if your system is more stable this way.

If you are running Windows XP:

You click connect on the opening splash screen and the game crashes or gives you this error:
“The procedure entry point GetCurrentProcessorNumber could not be located in the dynamic link library KERNEL32.dll”

then you are probably running XP sp2.

to fix this:
Update to Service Pack 3

Hey guys, If you cannot figure out crashes please send us a ticket at:
support.worldoftanks.com

Kernell.dll issues are related to outdated SPs and directX, follow the steps here:
http://www.update.mi...n&&thankspage=5

Also make sure your drivers are up to date:
http://www.nvidia.co...aspx?lang=en-us - GEFORCE NVIDIA
http://support.amd.c...ages/index.aspx    -AMD RADEON ATI
http://downloadcenter.intel.com/   <- INTEL

As always, if you can't figure it out get in touch. On a side note, if you get a D3DERR Invalid Call Crash, it's a known bug and will be fixed soon. You can avoid it by tabbing in and out of the client as little as possible.

Thanks for helping each other out guys!

This is what fixed my frequent crashing problem.

I have a 64-bit system with the following specs:
CPU: Intel Core i5-3570K CPU@3.40 GHz
RAM: 8GB SDRAM
Hard Drive: 260GB Solid State Drive
BIOS Version/Date: American Megatrends Inc. 0610, 5/8/2012
Graphics: Intel HD 4000
Motherboard: ASUS

On startup I went into BIOS. It takes me to ASUS UEFI BIOS Utility.
Go to Advanced Mode.
Click the Ai Tweaker tab.
Change Ai Overclock Tuner from Manual to X.M.P.
Change anything else that is set to Manual, to Auto.

I used to crash almost every game after the recent updates. I tried every suggestion I could find on the forums, but nothing worked. After changing these settings, I haven't crashed since.
Hope this helps. Good luck.

why would we have to disable something just because of G.I.G.O problems? BTW 100% of HDD's now days come with smart, Thing is if they even have a hint of failure it will tell you even just on the desktop......The only thing I can say about the CTD and BSoD's (yes, I have been having them and it is resultant to a buffer over run) is that there is a buffer over run (memory leak) within the load screen of the Hangar. this problem has been there before. I would suggest getting away from python coding altogether and go to C# and these leaks would disappear all together.

my launcher cannot launch, I send a ticket to WG and I did what they told me. It worked but I cannot change my resolution. Once I change my resolution to the one my monitor is suited to, I cannot launch the game again. I hope that this bug is solved when it goes live on 26 Sept. this is too troublesome to keep copy and paste the file that WG has given me each time I want to play WOWP. If WOWP I cannot play, nvm I still got Warthunder to play for planes.

Yes I have the same issue, it loads about a fingernail width across the blue load bar and freezes and thats all it does.  I have a ticket in at the moment with tech support, never had an issue with tanks for the last 2 years or planes till this update.

Thanks for the info, very thorough presentation.

I've made the high def audio adjustment and will see how that works.

Python log did have some 'failed to find parameter named 'mode' in sound event named...........', but I did not see any type of time or date stamp in the log. Not sure when these events occurred.

I WANT MY T-50-2 BACK!

(yes I did!)

All I know is that their "Work Around" did not work for my system. (and I have one that will play 3D games and movies).

I bought two planes and a ton of Gold in anticipation of getting to play over the holidays with this time off from work.  Looks like this could not have happened at a worse time.

Do I have to say extremely disappointed?
