Dude you should definitely write an E-Book about "Tips and Tricks for World of Warplanes"...
It's awesome! And it helps a lot for a newbie like me to get some GT kills!  :happy:

Crash et al,

Great tips and comments.   This has helped me a lot.    Another observation is that one should wait back a bit as a GA and not go zooming in.  Let the fighters engage and then move to your target.   Also, on the bigger maps...e.g., Pacific Ocean, you have to have some patients before heading to the HQ as fighters will be waiting for you and will smoke you quickly.

Iv though about adding the camo to my GA planes as ill be low I figure the -15% might help idk if it works though . The low attack does work better though. AA cant fire but a second and in mountains and hills  I can use the terrain some as well Thanks for the guide and the time you took to write it up as well

I have seen real life video of Crash flying and bombing unsuspecting citizens with water balloons from his plane. Thanks for sharing your experience...just joking of course. Thanks for a well written lesson in Attack Aircraft use. About the only thing I can add to make it better is ...well ..nothing.

Maybe this "how to" should get a re-write based on recent changes to the game. AA does NOT seem to lessen after the HQ is destroyed...GA planes can no longer take out ground targets with just guns in a single pass, etc.

Ah yes...the infamous 'bomb trap'
I've been called so many foul names I've started keeping a record of the more entertaining ones...of my 11 thousand kills...over 2 thousand are from bombs.

So long as OP fighters are capable of shredding my aircraft from behind, i'll keep dropping bombs in front of them.   I've never had an ace with a single bomb but I've killed 4 with one - and managed a very pleasant 7 with two bombs each within about 5 seconds of each other.  It takes a lot of practice (dying) to get it right but once you score, you'll figure it out!

very good post , all I can add is I try to not use all my bombs on ground targets so I will have one for the tailgaters

I had wrote a post on this in the Russian plane section of the forum. But thought I would add it here as well. On the low teir GAs TSh-2 and -3 but figure it may help on all GAs that have dropped their bombs. I load incendiary on them as it sets the target on fire and while its burning it still loses hp. Iv had them burn down from 30% to zero while attacking another target. it helps if you dont take the target out the first pass makeing the 2nd pass take less time. Iv had 3 targets burn downfrom 20 -30% to zero while hideing as I was the last plane on my team. We got a win as the counter reached 100%. This lets you continue to deal damage while attacking other targets or saw on the map your about to be jumped and need to hide and use  the land to gain some extra points on the counter

AP-I Armo Piercing-Incendiary works wonders on most air and Ground Targets. Some guns in larger calibers Maybe HE or HE-I if available.

Completely agree.  Obviously the person who did this has no idea how the game plays at all.  Anyone with some sense could see that it is still full of useful helpful information.

Just like the Heavy Fighter Operation thread, it was unpinned for reasons unknown (no, it's NOT over a year old NOR are the tactics ineffective).  I plan on updating this thread as well, even though it will remain mostly the same, since the tactics still work.  Please help this thread out by keeping it near the top so new players will easily find it.  Thanks!!

Hi all,

 

very good guide, indeed! I am currently upgrading my IL-10, and my tail gunner will soon have his second skill available. Now I have a question concerning this. I am not sure if I should go for crack-shot (accuracy), or long reach? What I have read so far is that most players recomend the accuracy skill for the rear gunner, but I am tempted to chose the long reach. While thinking about it, a big question came to my mind:

 

  • Does the tail gunner break your camouflage bonus, when he fires his gun?!? (because if you fire your front mounted guns and cannons, it sure breaks your camouflage bonuses, whereas bombs and rockets do not break camo)

 

If so, then it could theoretically really mess your camo up. If you fly @ 10-50 metres (35-150ft.) altitude in a camouflaged (camo paint included) GA. Assume the enemy does not have the view range skill, or his pilot is not at 100% primary skill yet and/or at a bad angle to spot you, and your rear gunner fires his 20mm gun, which I must assume has about 600 metres (1800 ft.) range + the long reach skill, then he might break your camo?!? Idk., just assuming it's about that range judging from the range of front mounted cannons. I never had a 20mm rear gun before, I am still using the first tail gun. Any thoughts on this?

 

also,

 

  • Does the camo-paint stack with the low altitude camo bonus? And does the paint work as intended? (allways +15%)
  • How much range do you really gain with the long reach skill? (is it more like 5% or more like 20%)
  • on a side note,...how much doeas the increased view range skill really give you? (5%-ish or 20%-ish)

 

Any advice is much aprechiated.
