FYI: They have nerfed XML editing. Apparently they are afraid of competing with us on programming our controls.
So they decide to take away something that makes this game enjoyable, or even playable for some people? Doesn't sound like something WG would do at all /sarcasm

Seriously? How & when did this get discovered, now this would constitute a stupid move on their part.

How did they nerf the editing?  I was able to go and change my curve, and all the sensitivity and deadzone I change in the file, changes in game, the keybinds that I manually change in the XML, changes in the game.

They changed the XML file versions, nothing else. They didn't disable XML editing.

Seems like the pitch and yaw controls on the keyboard dig deeper than just your standard control XMLs, since they entirely disable mouse input. Still looking into it.

Yea I used a 4.0 version of 035 (not 4.0.1), changed the version from 12 to 20 (the current version) and it seemed to stick. But yea I hear ya on the Yaw and pitch control override doesnt seem to be in there ;/

I play using a gamepad with the throttle mapped to the left stick's y-axis. I use the following to ensure that I have to pull far back on the stick before the engines are idled:
Spoiler

This prevents me from accidentally idling during turn fights.

I used to use the dead zone setting to achieve the same effect, but in 0.4.0, it doesn't seem to affect the throttle control.

Have been editing the XML files since around October last year and had always put a copy of my joystick xml file in both
%APPDATA%\Roaming\Wargaming.net\World of Warplanes\ and C:\Games\World of Warplanes\res\scripts\input mapping\.
It always seemed to help.

Since the patch, however, when I place an edited version of joystick.xml in the %APPDATA%\Roaming\Wargaming.net\World of Warplanes\ folder it is replaced by the default the next time I start the game. The edited joystick.xml file in the \input mapping\ folder remains edited.

Am I missing something?

Also, if i try to add an extra xml file, in both folders, let's call it joystick2.xml, it shows up in the 'Control Scheme' window as a choice the first time I play. But the next time I restart the game, the 'Control Scheme' window is there but no choices are listed and the arrows keys to scroll are greyed out. I have to remove joystick2.xml, in this case, in order to see the choices in the 'Control Scheme' again.

The only edits I do are for the curve, nothing else is changed. Even the text is lined up as in the default joystick.xml file.

BTW, I'm using a 3D extreme and have never been able to completely remove pilot induced oscillation. Have had more than one person suggest that I might have a bad joystick. I just bought it in October last.

Any suggestions?

EDIT: File Version 20, got it! That fixed being able to keep the file I edited in the 'Roaming' folder.

For Lindy. Backup your original file before using this one, just in case.

I am attempting to edit my preferences xml file to change to location of the mini radar screen. I can locate the files and using an XML editor..change the information. My problem no matter how or what I do, the file always reverts back to its original state having no edits performed. Ihave changed the file version to 20 and still no dice. UAC is set to off and the file still reverts back to the original settings. There have been a few times when as the battle starts...the mini radar screen blinks in the position I want it..and then reverts back to its original position.

I am not a good shot. Few of us are. To make up for this I hold my fire until I have a shot of less than 20 degrees of deflection and until I am within 300 yards. Good discipline on this score can make up for a grea deal.
