The flaps are proportionally larger than similar sized aircraft and at full extension could easily force level flight into a stall if engine power was not compensated. The engines were designed much like their comparisons used in Hueys and could create a lot of torque very quickly.
There was however, a failed attempt to dramatically increase the natural capabilities of the Hercules when US officials were conceiving ways to rescue the embassy hostages in Iran.

But because it crashed, the rocket thruster idea got scrubbed.
The only way its carrier record can ever be broken is if future carriers are made bigger and a new, bigger plane is tested for operations.

That was how they did it landing on the carrier no hook or arresting gear just full reverse.

The C-17 Globemaster has the the ability to throw all its engines in reverse during flight, the cool thing about it is that it is certified to do so.

You never heard of the C-130 before this? It has been the work horse of the USAF and other Air-forces for the past 60 years.

Call of Duty syndrome, dude.
The OP's video is pretty cool, amazing all the things C-130s can do.
