Iran yesterday revealed its most recent indigenous fighter jet — the “Qaher 313″. The prototype Q-313 was presented to President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, as a ceremonial gift during the country's Ten-Day Dawn celebration. The festivities commemorate the 1979 revolution when the U.S. embassy in Tehran taken by force.

In the previous days, the Iranian Defense Minister Brigadier General Ahmad Vahidi had said, “The aircraft will be different from the other fighter jets Iran has already made.”

from what i have seen of this it appers to be a non flying mockup, and a pretty weird copy of the f-35

If its that small, I doubt that it can carry more then 60 rounds of ammo and two sidewinders, or go far from base.

I don't want to underrate other nations, but considering Iran's current capability, I don't think it would be much of a threat. I am much more concerned about the Chinese as they have actual funding to build something worthwhile and since they continue to steal as much ideas from us as possible, they can get to our level quicker.

I would be more concerned that the Chinese will sell Iran one of their fighters as well.

I hope this is their idea of joke.  That thing is so small it can't carry that many weapons on the one hand and on the other, I doubt that the Iranians have mastered stealth technology. That thing would be nothing more than a target against Iran's most likely adversaries.

While I don't want to see them acquire an effective fighter, I do feel badly for the pilots who would have to fly those things in combat and get killed like flies, especially if their leaders think that because of this new jet that they actually have a chance to win.

That thing is pretty small. Not much room for avionics or weapons systems.

Looks like a full scale of a hypothetical fighter that Testors put out as a plastic kit back in the 80's, though I cant remember which one(s).

Seeing as this rather conventional fighter was only introduced about 3 years ago i really doubt they would make such a jump in their designs

Propaganda.   Nothing more.  That plane will never fly(the full sized manned version anyway).

There is no way that thick wing will ever go supersonic either.

Like everyone else had basically already said if by some miracle it becomes a serviceable fighter it would be useful for short range subsonic home defense missions only.

Its just not big enough to carry any decent fuel/ordnance/electronics.

They could buy some migs for less money that would do more and do it better.

Not too mention those small intakes are really going to struggle getting Air in, especially during negative G or extreme Yaw maneuvers. Also if you look at the length of Irans main Air to Air missiles the; Sattar, Shahbaz, Fatter missiles compared to the size of the Aircraft and people around it, the Aircraft will struggle even to have a weapons bay the size needed to carry them.

Hello all,

i think too this airplane for now is a muck-up...and you can see by simply looking at pilot  and seat size, position of legs in aircraft canopy, wiring in front fuselage and as i saw engine exhaust in rear fuselage i noticed there is no external panels or bays so its temperature probably melt down entire airplane..but this airplane has some fine lines and im really curios what Iranians will do.
