Hello Pilots!
We want to hear your feedback! In addition to answering the poll above, we would like your feedback on the categories below:
Battles played - How many games have you flown in this plane?
Plane balance - please explain why you think this plane is overpowered, underpowered, or balanced. Give specific reasoning like firepower, turn rates, climb speed, etc., that contribute to the planes balance.
Historical accuracy - please note any specific characteristics that make this plane unique historically and what things may be missing from that would better reflect the capabilities of the plane.
Power curve - How does the plane feel stock vs. fully upgraded?
Adjustment recommendations - Explain any recommendations you have to balance this plane and why.
Additional notes - Anything else you have to say about this plane that doesn’t fit in another section above. Include any tactics or uses that may have been overlooked by other players.
Cheers!

This thing is a beast. 13 matches, 62% win rate. The thin skin nicely balances incredible maneuverability, high speed, and excellent firepower. The power curve doesn't feel extreme because it doesn't take many matches to upgrade.
When upgraded this plane can tear bombers to pieces in short order provided it attacks them from a blind angle. It's a nice glass cannon for tier 3.

I admit that I rolled through this to get to the "late" model. Only 11 games in OB. In Go Live I will probably fly this plane a lot more. Agile, bites, but SO ugly. Wulf
Added: Flew it again to grind to the I-17,  and have concluded that I REALLY do not like this plane, or its position in the Tiers. W

Roll rate is way over the top bordering on cartoonish, as well as its big brother.

IRL, the I-16 really had such a high roll rate comparable to the Fw 190's 160 degrees per second.

Battles played - 46 played/31 wins/32 kills
Plane balance - Great maneuverability to make up for its soft skin. Has the ability to take on planes of a tier higher with the current attributes.
Power curve - Quick advancement through the modules allows a player to upgrade quickly.
Additional notes - This plane falls into my list of favorites due to the maneuverability, speed and the adequate firepower for use with aggressive tactics. With the current MM algorithm, you have to accept this plane will never be the top tier. The best it will achieve is middle of the pack or at worst, the bottom.

Battles Played: I have played 20+ games with this plane.

Plane Balance: This plane is slightly overpowered for its tier. It has the 2nd best maneuverability in its tier, second only to the cardboard A5M. But Jap planes are the king of maneuverability. It has the second best firepower and speed, 2nd only the Arado Ar 80. Its only weakness is its weak hit points. Get a smart tier IV or V on this plane, and the I-16 is DONE.

Power Curve: The plane's default modules have the weakest firepower in its tier, but the default modules also offer the greatest amount of maneuverability. The more you upgrade, the faster and powerful you are, but the more you weight, thus, less maneuverability.

Adjustment Recommendations: Though this plane is fun, its overpowered. It is superior to most tier III fighters in every aspect but Hit Points. You can make it weaker the higher it gets, because it thrives on med-low altitude. But beware. If you are attacked from above you have nowhere to go but up or try to pitch up and roll.

Additional Notes: This planes dive speed is really low. A full dive gets you to 400mph. It's a blessing and a curse. Use it to your advantage by first climbing to 900-1300m in altitude. Then attack from above. The slow dive speed lets you control your dive better, so you have less of a chance to mess up. The bad side to it is that you cant dive away from an enemy because your slow. Your only option is to climb or try to maneuver around and try not to crash.

This is a treat to fly.   Decent acceleration, fast, and can turn of a dime.   It seems like it can reverse direction within its own stubby fuselage length.   However, because it is so maneuverable it is a poor gun platform and you practically have to be within 100 feet to hit anything.   Rockets lack the punch for ground attack, and the speed to hit anything at range.   Definitely a knife-fighter; get in close and turn-n-burn.

Gracias

I love this plane. It and it's big brother are among my favorites.

Once upgraded, the 'mule' can make a contribution even in a tier 5 match as long as you know how to maneuver and watch your HPs.

I have actually shot down a BF110e with a rocket (well, finished him off actually)...it was awesome.

*Speaking of rockets...it would be GREAT to see some tips/tactics/training on how to use them, effective distance, flight time, etc.*

I WANT MY T-50-2 BACK!

(yes I did!)

Plane balance - Underpowered.  Literally.  The plane even with top engine rarely gets above 175 and often is rolling in turns a just above stall speed.  Combined with its small HP pool, its a difficult plane to find advantage in.
Historical accuracy - ~
Power curve - Firepower improves nicely, the rest of the characteristics feel about the same.
Adjustment recommendations - The slow speed and great turn radius combined with weakness everywhere else means that this plane functions only as a vulture.  And if your target breaks off and comes after you, your only option is the continous turn, which makes for a great turtle move but requires a teammate or a bad player to bail you out of.  Needs a bit of a speed boost as a result.
Additional notes -

Dreaming of better days.  When this game had full matches, fiery dogfights, and hope for the future.

Plane Balance - Stock engine is ok, and with top engine is pretty good.  The agility of the plane is great and makes it one of my favorites.  However, there is a big falloff if you play the top guns, even if you have the top engines.

Historical Accuracy - Good.  Was well known as a turn machine to the extent that Germany warned its 109 pilots to not attempt to turn with the I-16.

Adjustment Recommendations - I would like to see the drop of agility to not be so great when you play the top guns with the top engine.  Sometimes I think I would be better off if I used the .30 cal (7.62) guns, but then you have problems with damaging opponents.

I really enjoyed flying the little fellow because you get all the lower tiers it seems and its fun to tangle with biplanes. Just a joy.

20 missions (55% and dropping).

This plane might have been overpowered before the last patch, but with auto aim BnZers kill it often with a single burst. It's still fun and one of my favorites.

That's only using the 7.62mm guns. Great plane, can contribute to any battle it can be placed in.

This thing is so much fun! Only the Ki-33 turns faster at tier. The rockets give it a new level of ability, it can go air to air, or air to ground. BIG FUN! Got 3 rocketier badges with it.

Great plane! Not OP but some morons think so. Yea it can out turn most planes in it's tier and out gun em' but it comes with a price.  You got sh!t for armor/durability, sh!t for HP, and basically to ways to go up if you have the turbo available, or down if your at high enough altitude, but...you prolly aint gonna escape unless they got another slower target to shoot at, and will instead get waxed trying to flee as fast as you can right in the a$$. But it is a fun, nicely balanced plane, with the only drawback being you have to play it twice to advance to the tier V.

Fun plane to get into turn fights with higher tiers. Only problem with this thing is the vert stall. When I first played it in CBT i loved it, and couldn't wait for the release. Well, the release lived up to my expectations. It's my goto plane for T3 battles.
