Hello Pilots!
We want to hear your feedback! In addition to answering the poll above, we would like your feedback on the categories below:
Battles played - How many games have you flown in this plane?
Plane balance - please explain why you think this plane is overpowered, underpowered, or balanced. Give specific reasoning like firepower, turn rates, climb speed, etc., that contribute to the planes balance.
Historical accuracy - please note any specific characteristics that make this plane unique historically and what things may be missing from that would better reflect the capabilities of the plane.
Power curve - How does the plane feel stock vs. fully upgraded?
Adjustment recommendations - Explain any recommendations you have to balance this plane and why.
Additional notes - Anything else you have to say about this plane that doesn’t fit in another section above. Include any tactics or uses that may have been overlooked by other players.
Cheers!

The Polikarpov I-5 is a rather interesting beginner plane for this game. Given a chance it can become a fun plane to fly about the map knocking enemy from the sky but be cautious with it. If you are a new pilot this plane will get you kill quickly and cause many a nights frustration and loss of sleep. When one looks at the comparison chat before the match begins one will see that, for the most part you are out matched in every respect. Do not let this fool you. Despite the comparison chart this plane can be a formidable adversary with a small contribution to team wins. With the fully upgraded M-25 engine providing 500 horse power to feed the boosting capability in combat, this plane becomes quit agile in evasion and aerobatics. Armed with 4, 7.62mm PV-1(s) machine guns it lacks the ability to defeat any enemy head on, even with the choice of AP rounds selected. The engine is somewhat protected and can with stand a few hits as you dive out of a head on engagement to turn and attack your opponent but by all means do not stay in a head on engagement, The I-5 bis airframe will provide you with 65 hit points of protection from enemy fire but no protection from enemy AA so do not engage AA ground targets. This is not a plane you can do many vertical maneuvers in due to its loss of power but using the boost and air brake you can out maneuver most more maneuverable opponents with a combination of twisting vertical loops. Provided you can find an opponent and attack his flank or rear you can down him quickly at 500-450 meters. By all means do not use boost to chase after an enemy. I do find this plane lacking in airspeed and chase ability as most opponents can out run or out climb you. So keep that in mind when attempting to chase after a Ago-129. Having flown 302 battles with 200 victories 2 of which resulted in a draw I believe this plane to be an equal contributor to any win. With a kill count of 501 it can bring you many an achievement and medals. A good tactic in this plane is to spot an enemy quickly and when they engage in a head on attack dive out of the way with a fake left or right then turn back up into them. As most people boost up and out of an head on this will give you the advantage of being at there rear. I do not know much about historical accuracy but I would like to see the ability of this plane, if it was given more speed capability. In its upgraded version it is a good plane in the hands of a skilled pilot against any Tier 1 and Tier 2 enemy but in its basic beginnings it is a death trap. So good luck and have fun, I hope you will come to enjoy this plane as much as I have.

This is my fav T1 plane. When I got into the CBT, all I wanted to do was fly T1/2 battles. I wait back in the pack, then shred the wounded planes after the initial onslaught. Overall, get into a turning battle and you'll win every time, and never ever never get into a pure head on shoot out. I run incin rounds on the quads, and they'll light up your enemy almost 9 out of 10 times. Good rudder control, and roll rate to boot.
