I'll probably be going the US navy tree, F7U looks nice, I don't really care for tier 6-9 here though, Sabre is nice
I'm not liking the absence of P-38 and 47 though :\

From scorching sun to shade, Thou shall find moon brigades. Come forth and love my night, Let Moon's reign be known

Where did you get the forward swept wing version of the P-51 from? I've never heard of it.

Neither have I.Interested to find out where they found it.

WoWp drinking game: Drink when a post about being accepted into CBT,how Brit/Japanese planes should be added, about why no beta key yet, a thread that should be in beta section is in open section or how something should be added when devs have said no.

So would I, forward swept wings have significant problems with the construction and control tech available in the 1940's. They might be very very cool if the difficulties are ignored, but they aren't the most realistic choice.

Indeed, forward swept wings didn't become viable until the advent of carbon composites. I'm not liking this variant, I don't care if it looks cool or not.

Also, Jet powered P-51 my ass. Its just some horribly freakish mutant hybrid of a P-51 and 2 V1 buzzbomb engines from the looks of it. So technically its pulse jet powered. (corrected, mistakenly claimed the V1 engine was a ram jet)

I doubt there even was a P51 jet made IRL.And if there was,no way would it have forward-swept wings.

Actually, I'm really surprised to see this, but the F-82 Twin Mustang is fast. Really fast actually. It's a bit faster than the flying flapjack, and if very fast prop planes or hybrids are what make up that tier, which they currently seem to, the F-82 is right in line at 482 mph with the:

  • Consolidated Vultee XP-81 (507 mph)
  • Curtiss X15C (469 mph)
  • Ryan XF2R Dark Shark (497 mph) (The FR Fireball was actually really slow. 404 mph and both a jet and piston engine? Wow.)
  • Grumman F7F Tigercat (460 mph)
  • Vought XF5U (475 mph)

These fighters' speeds all look to be roughly in line. Granted I don't have the curves for max speed at altitude, good knowledge for maneuverability or the like, but even if the planes' speeds were measured at different altitudes, they're all comparable in speed, and the slowest, the F7F, carries a huge armament of 4x .50 machine guns and 4x 20mm cannon.

The Twin Mustang might just be the answer.

Indeed, but making sense doesn't seem something the staff at Wargaming are particularly good at, from my perspective.

I would have excluded the Twin Mustang from the tree because it is a twin engine fighter. But seeing the F5U in the carrier branch, I can only conclude that the trees will no longer be seperated based on single or twin engine aircraft. If this is in fact the case it may simplify tree creation.
However if this turns out to be correct, then why in gods name would they select some blueprint fantasy over a historically accurate aircraft. Which brings us back to my first sentence. Making sense, they are not.
