Why is it possible for a plane to collide with another, often of a great size difference, and one plane be destroyed, even the heavier one, while the other, sometimes lighter and smaller, to go away with not even a scratch? I am no expert, but it seems to me that a mid-air collision is often fatal, even when say a Bf-109 hit a B-17....much less a twin-engine plane and a single. Does anyone know how damage is calculated when colliding and why it's so far off?

Why is that when you change to manual turret, and assume control of the gunner, that the pilot instantly goes comatose and does nothing, thus allowing the plane to fly into mountains and such? When you have control of the pilot the gunner still is awake, why not the opposite? Strange.
