Igor Sikorsky weekend: My dziadzia flew with him.

My dziadzia (That's Polish for grandfather) fought in B-25 bombers in the pacific during WW2 and he got the rank of staff sergeant. He passed away back in 2010 and I'd have to say he's one of the most influential people to me. It just seems he did things and went places I'l never be able to do so I strive to work hard to do what I think would have made him proud of me. He could speak many languages including English, Polish, Russian, German Japanese and if I remember correctly Chinese aswell. He had been all over the US, Austrailia, Guam, Saipan, (either Iwo jima or Okinawa, I forget), Japan and Korea and many other islands and places.

Before he was drafted for the war though he said he flew with Igor Sikorsky in a helicopter in Connecticut. He said he was chosen by hand out of multiple people because our last name ended with "ski" and he automatically assumed he was the best. He said he would lift off and fly forward, then write things down in a notebook and repeat after flying in different directions or angles. I wish he were still alive because he used to have all sorts of stories about all the islands he went to and there was one time his plane was shot down and I just wish I could hear all his stories again =(.

When ever i start the launcher, a message comes up that reads "Windows cannot access the specified device, path, or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item." can anyone tell me how to get rid of this. Maybe find a way to give me permission, i know the admin password

Dicta Boelcke: The first great list of air combat tactics

I'm left to wonder how many people who play World of Warplanes when it is fully released will actually try to use air combat tactics rather than just blindly chasing after any enemy fighter they can see. Even though it's "just a game", I doubt that'll mean that the tried-and-true combat tactics of past wars will be inapplicable.

Case in point: The Dicta Boelcke, the first major set of air combat tactical rules, outlined by WWI German Ace Oswald Boelcke. They might seem rather obvious by today's standards, but back in WWI, they were crucial if you wanted to survive for more than a few weeks as a combat pilot.

1. Try to secure the upper hand before attacking. If possible, keep the sun behind you.

2. Always continue with an attack you have begun.

3. Open fire only at close range, and then only when the opponent is squarely in your sights.

4. You should always try to keep your eye on your opponent, and never let yourself be deceived by ruses.

5. In any type of attack, it is essential to assail your opponent from behind.

6. If your opponent dives on you, do not try to get around his attack, but fly to meet it.

7. When over the enemy's lines, always remember your own line of retreat.

8. Tip for Squadrons: In principle, it is better to attack in groups of four or six. Avoid two aircraft attacking the same opponent.

I'm hoping to put at least some of those rules to practical use when WoWP is released. Hopefully Wargaming will have studied these kinds of tactics and will ensure that, in the game, following them will create a big spread in pilot skill. In particular, I'm hoping they'll make the game such that turning into your opponent will always be more beneficial than trying to turn away or trying to run.

I DOWNLOADED ON DIRECT LINK CUZ THE PATCHER ALWAYS GIVE ME CRITICAL ERRORS

i just finished downloading my WOWP, after i update when it is installing i received a critical error

so i tried to fix it manually by finding the corrupt part of the patch and extracting it using .7z

Thoughts after the first hour of play.

"Flight dynamics".
I was a little dissapointed at how child like the flight dynamics were.. but then you remeber thats its a game and aimed to be fun for everyone.  So the spongy generic handeling is forgivable since it premotes fun.
But it also compliments the different handeling of the variouse aircraft which could have been a issue. But the different handeling is quite nice.

I think Id like to see more in the way of throttle control?.
"Boost" and "Break" are a little.... odd...  I think "Max"  "Cruise"  and  "Min" are a little more descriptive?.

Tracer rounds?.
Seems that almost every round is a tracer round?...  Seeing a dogfight from a distance I see bright white lines spraying in a cone shape long before I see the aircraft.  I think the bullet effects could be toned down a little?.

Fireing zone..
Seems that gunfire occures from a large box shape just infront of the aircraft?.
Not possible to make the gunfire occure from the correct fireing points on the model??

Rudder?.
Wheres me rudder!?
I found myself jamming the A and D keys a few times to perhaps trick some kind of rudder responce.
The ability to throw a little side slip, or throw my tail over at the top of a climb would be nice...

Where are the Brits!?.
No Brittish tech tree?.  (resumably thats in the works atm)

Ramming..
Very first game I discovered the hit boxes around the aircraft are less than forgiving...
Later on I realised it was a form of "winning" to some players to deliberatly ram their opponent out of the air.
I can see this particular act becomming troublesome at a later date... knowing how silly some people can be. Especially ramming their own team..... nuff said there really.

Overspeed.
Diving too hard, boosting too long......
Climbing too hard creates less airspeed over the wings and you get a stall....
Diving too hard creates too much airspeed over the wings (or frame) and causes damage to the aircraft and motor....   just a though..  ;)

Textures.
For the most part... the game looks great.
But now and then I came cross scenery that looked... well.... like it was taken from Flight Sim 98...  Very poor graphics rendering on the object.
Some kind of mill or factory springs to mind...

Im really looking forward to seeing where the game goes from here!!

Devs..  Keep up the great work!!.
I love World of Tanks, and I can see this becomming rather fun too..
Im really looking forward to Warships!   (i used to play "dreadnaughts" a lot!).
